Things heated up pretty quickly for American Honda Motor Co. this summer. August in particular proved to be a strong month of sales. In fact, a new record was set with a total of 166,432 models sold and an overall increase over last year's August sales of 26.7 percent.

When looking at the brand's year-to-date sales, these remain strong as well with over a million models sold, an increase of 11 percent over last year. Drivers in the Fairfield, CA area and beyond just can't seem to get enough of the new Honda lineup.

So which models were flying out of showrooms this summer? The Honda CR-V set an all-time record selling 34,654 units. Compared to August of 2012 this is an increase of 45.1 percent.  The Civic topped its previous August sales record as well. Combined with the Accord, the two models sold a combined 38,000 units.

John Mendel, executive vice president of sales at American Honda, comments on the success of the brand, explaining, "With three of our core models topping 30,000 units and the Honda brand up more than 29 percent, our August sales definitely didn't take a break for the holiday weekend. We're keeping our foot on the gas as we transition into the 2014 model year including the introduction an all-new Accord Hybrid in October."1
