Many Honda enthusiasts out there may already be familiar with the Earth Dreams powertrains, as they are currently available in a variety of different new Honda models. Now the automaker has confirmed it plans to bring this technology to yet another one of our favorite models, the Honda Civic.
For those of you who don't know, Earth Dream engines are available for diesel hybrid, electric and gas-powered variants. These powertrains bring performance and efficiency to a whole new level. The technology was first introduced to the market in the redesigned 2013 Accord in the form of 2.4-liter and 3.5-liter Earth Dream engine options. With its success so far, we imagine it will definitely develop further from here as Honda strives to make its lineup more eco-friendly.
As for the Civic, a specific timeline hasn't been confirmed as to when the redesigned version will include the Earth Dream engine as an option, or if it will be available for the Si and Hybrid models as well. However, it's predicted the new Civic could be unveiled for its 2015 model year. We will be sure to keep you updated on our blog as additional information is released.
