Our favorite kind of news to report to all of you in the greater Fairfield area on our Steve Hopkins Honda blog, always has to do with Honda gaining some time in the spotlight. This time around the automaker was recognized for its innovative technology with the LaneWatch blind spot display. As a result, Good Housekeeping awarded Honda the 2013 "Very Innovative Products" (VIP) Award, making it the first automotive product this year to earn this recognition.
"LaneWatch is an intuitive visibility technology that represents the sort of innovation that consumers have come to expect from Honda," explains Mike Accavitti, vice president of national marketing operations, American Honda Motor Co., Inc. "Automotive products don't often win Good Housekeeping VIP awards, and that makes it even sweeter to have LaneWatch listed among the best new consumer products of 2013."1
This is quite the recognition for Honda considering it was chosen among 1,500 new products that were evaluated. It passed the performance and safety test with flying colors. The LaneWatch blind spot display uses a mounted camera that provides drivers with a field-of-view that is four times greater than a normal side mirror can provide. It goes from 18-22 degrees to about 80 degrees making it much easier to yield to bikers, pedestrians, and other traffic.
LaneWatch can be found in the 2013 Honda Accord, which recently was awarded the Top Safety Pick+ award from the IIHS for its superior safety. It is now also available in the 2013 Honda Crosstour.
To experience some of the other safety features that our new Honda inventory has to offer, we invite you to come visit our Steve Hopkins Honda showroom located at 2499 Auto Mall Pkwy Fairfield, CA 94533. We would be happy to schedule you for a test drive or answer any questions that you may have!
