Customers enjoy having a wide variety of options to choose from when it comes to selecting the perfect model within the new Honda lineup. This is why Honda prides itself in offering the most advanced technology when it comes to powertrain offerings. In fact, the automaker recently announced it will be investing $215 million in its Ohio facilities to boost its production of the innovative Earth Dreams Technology engines.
The first facility is the Anna, OH plant which will receive $180 million. Honda will then be able to expand its aluminum die casting process and increase production of the popular Earth Dream powertrains. In addition, a technical center will be added to the facility, allowing techs, engineers and line workers to be trained on the technology.
Honda's Marysville, OH operations plant will receive $35 million, the remainder of the investment. This will allow for the construction of a 160,000 square-foot facility to be used for another technical training center. Its area of focus will be automotive manufacturing. The facility is scheduled to include a new heritage center and automaker's North American Services group as well.
Rick Schostek, senior vice president of Honda North America, Inc. commented on these new training facility additions, explaining, "Even as we introduce more sophisticated technologies in our products and in our plants, we are working to ensure that our associates are equipped with the skills required for the manufacturing requirements of the future. We view this investment in Honda people as critical to our future success."1
