When it comes to a vehicle that guarantees safety, you can always count on the Honda Civic. In fact, the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety recently released its safety ratings for the Civic lineup, proving just how safe these models can be. Here at Steve Hopkins Honda we are excited to bring you all of the details.

Both the Sedan and Coupe versions of the model were listed as the only two small cars to receive a rating of 'good' in the small overlap front crash test. This is quite the accomplishment for smaller vehicles, and it is actually the first one to ever to score so highly in the aggressive test. Essentially it measures how the vehicle performs when its front corner comes into contact at a speed, with another vehicle/object. Luckily the reengineering of the Civic models helps to absorb the impact that a crash would cause. As a result, the sedan and coupe were also the only vehicles in the small car segment to earn the highest rating of TOP SAFETY PICK+.

For the 2013 model year, the Honda Civic sedan has been greatly enhanced to further protect passengers in the event of a collision. It now sports the latest Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure, which plays a big factor in the model's impressive safety rating. The Civic model also includes safety technology like Vehicle Stability Assist, an Anti-lock Braking System, and traction control, all of which are standard features.

Adding to its list of accolades, the Civic model also earned a 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score during the New Car Assessment Program from the NHTSA.
