When Hurricane Sandy made landfall on the east coast, she brought with her several waves of devastation that even those best prepared, couldn't have fully seen coming. And, in her wake, she left so many people on the east coast picking up the pieces of their lives, some still, with no power and countless dollars in damage.

However, in spite of this national tragedy, Steve Hopkins Honda has been impressed with how well the nation has banded together to help those who were most affected by the storm.

Take for instance, our favorite automaker, Honda - the Japanese automaker is pledging a total of $500,000 to the American Red Cross - Disaster Relief Fund, for use during humanitarian relief and recovery efforts for disaster and emergency areas.

"This giant storm hit many areas particularly hard, and Honda wants to support the many individuals and families devastated by the hurricane's impact," says Tetsuo Iwamura, president and chief executive officer of American Honda Motor Co., Inc., and chief operating officer of Honda's North American region. "As we have in responding to past natural disasters, supporting the Red Cross is an effective way to quickly reach the front lines."1

The Honda donation is comprised of cash as well as Honda products such as portable generators and water pumps for the relief and rebuilding efforts. Additionally, a designated company fund will match its associates from various Honda company's personal contributions to the Red Cross, dollar-for-dollar.
