Autoblog recently got their hands on the first all EV Honda, and they had nothing but great things to say!
According to the article, the Honda Fit "is quick, agile and actually quite fun to drive. Its cabin is roomy, outward visibility good and its styling is anything but odd. The platform is impressively safe, it has decent range and Honda says it is the most efficient vehicle the EPA has ever tested."1
The Autoblog were given the chance to take the Fit EV for a spin around a closed track and on the open road. After the ride, they found even more to love about the Fit EV. Specifically, they noted that its 3 selectable driving modes mixed quite well with both its drive and brake selection on the transmission
The 2013 Honda Fit EV features not only 3 selectable drive modes (Normal, Sport, and Econ), but also 2 driving selections on the transmission. Drive is, as its name implies, a normal driving mode. The other, dubbed 'Brake' automatically applies the brakes the moment that you take your foot off of the gas pedal in order to increase the rate that the regenerative braking system produces electricity for the battery - thereby increasing its electric range.
By mixing and matching the three driving modes with the two selectable ones on the transmission, the editors at Autoblog found that the Fit EV is truly a dynamic vehicle, with 6 total driving modes. Their favorite? Driving on 'Normal' with the transmission in Brake mode. This not only gave them the longest electric range, but a unique driving experience as well that consisted of only using one pedal.
