In fact, for the past three years, they've been sponsoring Honda drivers Matt Neal and Gordon Shedden.
Now, however, it would seem as though merely sponsoring the Honda Racing team isn't enough. No, the company wants to go all in with Honda, and everyone here at Steve Hopkins Honda is quite excited. Why? Simply put, it will completely transform the Honda Racing team forever... Literally. Yuasa Battery Sales' investment in the Honda Racing is so large that the team has actually been renamed to Honda Yuasa Racing.
"Our partnership with Honda is strong and the new title sponsorship provides us with the perfect springboard for our ambitious UK and European automotive aftermarket plans over the next three years," explains Yuasa Managing Director, Andrew Taylor. "We are pleased to add Yuasa's name to the team title and continuing our commitment to the team over the 2012 to 2014 seasons."1
The specific deal and Honda and Yuasa Battery Sales signed lasts for the approximately three years. And while exact details concerning funding weren't divulged, we do know that Yuasa provided the team with enough money to custom build a brand new racer.
