While cabin and engine air filters perform a very similar function, they do have their own unique differences. Both are vital components that require regular maintenance in our service center here at Steve Hopkins Honda in Fairfield, CA in order to function properly. How often they need changing can be influenced by how dusty the air is where you live, but a good general rule is every year or so for the cabin filter and every year or two for the engine air filter.

Cabin air filters: Usually located around the glove box area, cabin filters treat the air that enters the cabin from the air intake in the engine by removing pollen, strong odors, dust, and other contaminants.

Engine air filters: By removing things like dirt and debris from the air before it reaches the engine’s combustion chamber, engine air filters maintain high engine performance and can even play a part in extending your vehicle’s lifespan.
