Before the 2013 Honda Fit EV hits showroom floors, the new models has to pass the Honda Electric Vehicle Demonstration Program. If you have been following Honda news recently, you might have heard the first Honda Fit EV arrived in Torrance, CA to undergo real-world not long ago. More recently, two 2013 Honda Fit EVs arrived at Google headquarters and Stanford University, who will also be further testing the eco-friendly car.

The Honda Electric Vehicle Demonstration Program will help the automaker fully understand the unique challenges, as well as the opportunities associated with battery-electric technological innovation, before the model actually arrives on dealership lots.

Steve Carter, VP Environmental Business Development Office, American Honda explains, "Honda has a long history with electric vehicles, beginning with the introduction of our first battery-electric car, the EV Plus, nearly 15 years ago. Honda's experience and the unique feedback that Google, Stanford University and the city of Torrance will provide will be valuable to the future introduction of battery-electric technology."1

As the location of the 2013 Honda Fit EV tests suggest, the final production model will hit select west coast markets first, starting later this summer. By next spring, it's expected to be available in select east coast markets as well.
